If the banning of smoking in workplaces (which was first suggested by our government five years ago) gets a three-and-a-half-year grace period, is it still realistic to hope to see universal suffrage in this lifetime?
"We need to give time for smokers to quit and businesses to adjust," says secretary for health, welfare and food, who apparently was taught that "cold turkey" is but another exotic dish.
A rough estimate tells me that the percentage of business to be lost in restaurants and bars as a result of the ban will be smaller than the percentage of business they'd gained since soccer betting was legalized—a decision the government wasn't as hesitant in making.
