Never Again!

Have done well so far in terms of not using the Eastern Harbour Tunnel since the toll was jacked up by a whopping 67% three days ago. The key is to not be a driver.

It seems boycotting is the primitive approach to protesting against anything and everything. Yesterday, the first workday since the toll increase, the number of vehicles using the Eastern Tunnel dropped 20%.

The already constantly jam-packed Cross-Harbour Tunnel is expected to start experiencing the real impact next week when container trucks get back on the road after China's labor week holiday. I take it by then some drivers will be more than happy to pay the extra bucks to go back to using the Eastern Tunnel to save a lot of time and fuel.

I had sworn to boycott our office's Chinese medicine practitioner since she jacked up her consultation fee, also by 67%. But when Western medicine does nothing except make you dazed and still costs more than double Chinese medicine, I found myself betraying my conscience and giving in.

Likewise, while we protest against the Japanese for misrepresenting history in their textbooks (or for "falsely" claiming ownership of the Senkaku / Diaoyutai Islands, or for any of the list of things we believe they had done wrong), it'd just be that much more persuasive if we could, at the same time, let go of our grips on those PS2s, shrimp tempuras, and Bukkake videos.
