I used to be a touchy-feely person. But that’s all changed since I set foot in Hong Kong. I’ve become very skeptical of strangers and I find it necessary to keep a protective bubble around myself at all times.

Now that I’m surrounded by Chinese, it’s almost as if I don’t hug anyone anymore. Maybe that’s why I ensure every hug I do give is the real deal—none of those lopsided one-armed phony hugs. Only when you let your guards down can good things come your way. Sometimes, a genuine hug is all it takes.
